Details about 7% hike in DA or Dearness Allowance for Central Government Employees (in service or retired)
The good news or Diwali gift for the central goernment employees is just out - The DA or Dearness Allowance for all central goernment employees has been increased by seven percent. Here are the details of the same:
- The existing Dearness Allowance or DA is 65% of the basic pay for central government employees. It will now be 72% for all of them
- The reason for this DA hike is cited as a periodical exercise as Dearness allowance is revised in conjunction with CPI or consumer price index
- This hike or increase in DA will be gien to all serving employees as well as retired employees
- That means around 50 Lakhs in-service employees and another 30 Lakh retired employees will benefit
- This increase will be effective from 1 July 2012
- That will mean that employees can expect a good enough arrears payment from July to the month when this increased payment will be made
- This is reported to be the second bonanza for central government employees, because the Dearness Allowance was increased in March this year again by 7% from the then existing 58% to 65%
