Finance, Investments n Trading:New Format

Addendum:

I've to add this piece of information :-)
Seems like there is a real hot fight going on in the comments section, both on the format and the responsiveness of the readers.
Readers are requested to please read the comments and give their opinion. Requested to use decent language. :-)

Original Post follows:

On the request of the readers, I have changed the format and colours of Finance, Investments n Trading!

I hope this will be much more readable and easy to view!

Do leave your feedback in the comments if you have any suggestions for further improvement.

For a comparison, here is a screenshot of the previus format:

Hi Shobhit,
Though new format looks good, earlier was better, because it was read by many users and most suitable (Black background) for any website like yours or Google. Black screen saves the power as monitor requires nothing to produce black color and readers spend more time reading your article than browsing. so i think Black background is the best for our blogsite.

Aniruddha

Fair Enough! :-)
Well, I really dont know if black color saves power, but what I know is that white background with black fonts is the best and most convenient for the eye-sight.

Let's wait for some more feedback from readers.

Hello Shobhit,

I believe this current format is looking good. The only suggestion I have is that you make the links appear in BOLD, so that they are easy to spot and follow.

Secondly, I have a complain to the readers of this blog.
The comments and feedback on this site has gone down considerably. Just cannot understand the mentality of we Indians. Someone is putting in so much efforts to educate us, we dont even find time to post a ThankYou note or some appreciative comment for him. Really, no doubt why we Indians are still living in such horrible situation. We have time to complain about govt, politics, bad roads, and everything - no body is there to appreciate any good work.

Ragards,
Vidisha

Hi Shobit,

I prefer the earlier one only. Thats kinda nice.. This is kinda dull.. I make sure i click atleast couple of ads daily whenever i go through the blog, this is the only way i can say thanks to you.. :).. I did request other readers of the blog to do the same.. hope atleast 10% of bloggers and readers do that. One more thing Vidisha India is not like this because of us, its because of ppl who dont care about others.. They are selfish..

I request all the readers "PLEASE DO CLICK ON ADS".

Previous format was a stand out.Pls re-instate if you can.One of the reasons why I started reading your articles was the format.Content meaning came next.:)
Don't fix that which ain't broke :)

Dear Shobhit,

I completely agree with Sarvanan and Vidisha.
Looking at the response of the SELFISH readers, I am of the opinion that you should not waste your precious time and knowledge in putting up your articles. It's really a waste of time for a person of your calibre.
No point in attempting to educate these Sick indians - they do not have any appreciation for good work. All sitting at their end, rubbing their *** and wishing someone comes and helps them that too for free and then also they have no concern for his help.

So many people have asked questions on this blog about insurance policies and investments. Almost all got a detailed response. Yet hardly a few ever said thank you or helped anyone else. Hardly 4 ppl responded to questions like "how is the new format of this blog?". This is the level of appreciation, so no point in wasting the time with such selfish idiots.

Otherwise, A better option would be to concentrate on the US or UK markets. Atleast there people are goood enough to appreciate the efforts, even though it comes from a foreigner. Here, our own countrymen are showing apathy.
The web is full of examples where people have made enormous amounts of money from blogging - becuase they targeted the right audience, i.e. in US and UK. We Indians are of sick and cheap mentality - we do not want to improce, so let them remain as they are.

Sorry for putting up so much on your blog, but that's what I feel looking at your efforts and the response.

Hello Shobhit,

Upto a certain extent, I also agree with Vishal.

There is really no point in wasting time and effort here in India with non-responsive audience.

I'm not trying to blame anyone. But interestingly, Readers like Shashi, who have asked so many questions on this blog and have in a way forced Shobhit to immediately educate them about Investment Startegies and placed repeated requests for tutorials like options and derivatives - do not find time to respond.

However, a mid way can always be worked out.

You are right in taking the examples of indian companies, but I have one suggestion. Instead of taking examples of Indian companies and indian markets, take examples of US or UK companies and markets. This will ensure that the overseas audience are also targeted. May be you know it better as you are the ower of this blog. But my undestanding is that foreigners who may come to your site, will get the first impression that this site is only for India, hence they will leave this site.
You can as well concentrate on overseas audience with exmaples from overseas companies. That will ensure that the audience are targeted well, while the concept that you have to present can be conveyed even with examples of overseas companies.

What do you say???

Regards,
Vidisha

Hi Shobhit,
I fully agree with first comment and reasoning given by Aniruddh. Black background is better. Now since people are becoming excited just introduce a poll about the format - old or new format? and let the people vote.
Another thing- Don't lose the steam. India bashing by some of the readers is absolutely uncalled for. I personally feel that its great to see a blog with Indiacentric content and examples, written by an Indian and you should continue to maintain that. Page hits is the indication enough of the popularity of the blog. People may not be leaving the comments behind but am sure they must be blessing you for good work and as one of the readers said, may also be hitting the ads.
Many of the readers may be subscribing your post in RSS feed reader directly, and do not necessarily visit your blogsite to leave the comments. This may also be the reason for low count of comments.
Thanks once again for your time and effort.
Best regards

Hello Anil,

I absolutely agree with you that people may read the articles in a blog reader or by subscribing to other forms. But dont these smart alecs have a moral responsibility to visit the site and atleast respond to the questions that are asked occassionally?
I too read the article in a reader - but the moment I finish reading the articles, I visit the website and click on 1 ad. Whenever I see a question asked by shobhit, I visit the site and respond.

I am sure that we owe atleast thins much to Shobhit, for his hardwork.
I also agree with Vidisha, that SHobhit can concentrate on foreign companies and market for examples - instead of Indian companies. THis will ensure that he gets the receptive and responsive audience.

Thanks,
Vishal.

Dear Vishal,
I was just wondering, what makes you vouch for the receptiveness and responsiveness of foreign readers of this blog.
Anyway, I could see that in recent articles, Shobhit has started including Dollars / NASDAQ /DOW Jones etc..etc...
As usual, article is good indeed.
Best Regards

Anil/Vishal/Vidisha and all,

Thanks a lot for your responses! Appreciate your feedback. :)

Actually, I'm not the one who would feel disheartened based upon the user response. I have a passion to publish articles on finance, investments and trading, and I will continue irrespective of the user response.

Anyways, coming to the format, I've decided to keep this format. Have asked a few of my office colleagues and did some searches on Google, to find out what is best. I found that black fonts with white background is the most comfortable for eyes. So let's keep it - instead of straining our eye-sight for jazzy colors.

Also, as pointed by anil, I've started using Dowjones and dollars. Have added a translator service to the site. I think the concept will be conveyed whether I talk in dollars or rupees.
Rest assured, the examples will still be of indian companies as far as possible.

Hope the articles benefit all the readers.

Thanks,

I'M AFRAID THIS IS SITE HAS, IN MY OPINION, GONE TO THE DOGS.

Time was when this site was full of excellent articles. Shobhit's views may not always have been right (his analyses tend, in my opinion, to be simplistic): nevertheless, they were always original.

Now this site is full of garbage. Let me not mince words. It's full of, yes, garbage. Recycled waste. A clear case of quality buried under quantity.

Why are you shooting yourself in the foot, Shobhit? You say you blog because this is your hobby, because you like doing this, not to get rich and famous. Well, then, why do you sell yourself for added eyeballs? (You very clearly accept that the only reason you've changed your blog is to somehow snatch more Google hits.) That certainly does NOT show purity of purpose.

All right, so let's accept that you're basically into this for the (anticipated) fame and money. Even then, you need to have a USP. Carry on as you had been earlier, with quality original posts, and your readership would have grown slowly but steadily.

With this recycled rubbish that now litters your blogsite, you may temporarily be able to score a peak in hits (and thus delude yourself into thinking that your site is getting more popular), but it won't work in the long run. If it is recycled research one is looking for, there are scores of sites out there who offer more of them and of far better quality.

Why am I saying all this here? Because I had, months back, enjoyed the articles in this site, and appreciated this honest effort by a fellow Indian, and wished you well. And it pains me to see you thus cheapen your initial effort by trying to sell out. (Trying to, I say, because, I repeat, even the target of fame and lucre will, in the long run, be better served by sticking to your USP, by sticking to quality.)

With best wishes,

A disillusioned (ex-)reader.
