Yesterday, it was Jet Airways which made headlines for its Jet Airways layoff Job Cut and today, it is another biggie called Reliance Retail, which has decided to go for a Reliance Retail Lay off or Reliance Retail Job Cut.
This lay off from Reliance Retail comes with a differnt mode of operation. As per the news, Reliance Retail has backed off from renewing the job contracts of 1200 employees of Reliance Retail, which implies these employees will have to loose their job. Though the company on its part has denied any job cuts or layoffs. So what is happening?
Which department of Reliance Retail are going to see the Lay offs or Job Cuts?
Majority of them are from Direct sales department and it includes those who are not on Reliance Retail Payroll, i.e. outsourced from a third party contract.
Is there any relief for the affected Reliance Retail employees?
Some hopes are alive for the permanent employees, who are on payroll of Reliance Retail. The company is trying to relocate the permanent employees within company or the group and the Human Resource Department is also trying to find alternative jobs for some outside the group, as the news reported.

I am an ex-employee of Reliance who was forced to resign with the same assurances of internal redeployment or external help for sourcing jobs. All that is pure bullshit. Reliance just wants to save it's face by showing consideration for employees but infact this is the most shameless company. They have already laid off about 600 employees from petro marketing division and managed to avoid any controversy by fooling the employees into resigning.
It is a common dialogue amongst employees that, "when the elder brother can throw his own younger brother out for control over money and finances, employees cannot expect any gratitude from him"
JO APNO KA NAHI VO AUR KISSI KA KAISE HO SAKTA HEIN,,,,,,
"when the elder brother can throw his own younger brother out for control over money and finances, employees cannot expect any gratitude from him"
Reliance does not lay off permanent employee as per the usual practice....instead it compels the employee to resign by blocking salary/ deactivating access card/ blocking net connection and office amenities/ verbally asking the person to resign by a bunch of higher ups in the closed room. And if the employee insists to give in writting the higher ups, threat the employee of dire consequences - Am a recently forced to resign employee, trust me!
mr farhan ansari , head reliance retail is misusing mr mukash ambani "s name to get his personal works done. this can be checked from m.p secretariat.
Hi,
there are huge job cuts going on in Reliance. First Petro, now Retail. Reliance Retail is forcing people to put down there papers so that they can say there is no job cut. Within the last one week 650 people ( direct payroll employees of reliance retail) have been asked to quit without any options. Much more is on the pipeline next week. Reliance has done a complete mess with the retail business and now they are doing mass retrenchments. Nothing is coming out in the open media, am surprized.
i am working with reliance retail with EPC team on payroll. but on 26/11/08 i was instructed by HR head and forced to resign. along me there is 250 more employee were forced to do same. This way reliance is laying off payroll employees.Reliance retail is doing it from since one month. There is plan to cut 80% staff.
we all are engineer.
