Bajaj reduce motor-bike prices: Budget impact

The second largest motor-cycle manufacturing company of India, Bajaj, has slashed the motor-bike prices significantly.
This comes as a first step following the budget 2008 declaration by the finance minister P Chidambaram, who reduced the excise duties by 12 to 16 percent on two-wheeler manufacturing parts.

Bajaj says that it is just passing on the savings to the customers.

The price cuts in Bajaj bikes have been to the extent of 3000 Rs. The 100 cc Bajaj Platina will now cost 3000 Rs. less, taking its ex-showroom price to 30,000 only. Similarly, Bajaj Discover (125 cc and 135 cc) Bajaj Pulsar (150cc and 180cc) will cost around 1000 Rs. less. Similar is the price cut for the newly launched Bajaj Crystal with the DTS-si engine, it will also cost around 1000 Rs. less. Interestingly, and unfortunately, there is no information available about whether the newly launched and much hyped Bajaj Exceed Bike will be given any price cut or not.

It is significant move in the auto industry. Yesterday, it was Tata motors which went for a significant price cuts on different models of the Tata Cars. Hope this will bring some respite to the automobile customers in the Indian Markets.
