It's a shame to see plans announced to lay off hundreds of employees to save $9 million, just when GSU was breaking ground on a project budgeted at over $6 million in city and university funds to narrow Decatur Street, a project we now see did not beautify it, but only turned it into a "parking lot" which most GSU students will be unlikely to celebrate in a time of rising fees, budget and curriculum cuts, and longer, drearier commutes to and from campus.
