GMR Energy IPO Review

One more applicant for IPO is coming into the primary markets. GMR Energy limited, a group company of the GMR Group, which is primarily in the infrastructure and construction business, is planning to come out with an IPO or Initial Public Offering.


What is the size of the GMR Energy IPO?
The GMR Energy IPO is expected to raise approximately 4000 Crore Rupees. The GMR Energy IPO will be used to sell around 10% of the total equity of the company.

The GMR Energy company is expected to take both the public offer as well as the private equity placement route to gather the required capital.

As per the EconomicTimes, The GMR group has already raised debts through External Commercial Borrowings for acquisition in coal mining, power assets in Middle-East, Africa, Asia and Europe, the sources said adding part of this would also go to funding the group's airport ventures overseas.

GMR Energy has recently acquired 5 per cent stake in Homeland Mining & Energy in South Africa. This company is a subsidiary of Homeland Energy Group of Canada.

GMR Infrastructure had earlier said that it has an option to acquire an additional 45 per cent of this firm in due course.

An infrastructure arm of the GMR Group yesterday got a 20-year license to operate an airport here in Turkey and build and manage an international terminal within that airport.

According to a Czech daily, GMR group is also in fray for acquiring the Prague airport company, Letiste Praha.
