One option is to download all the data from the exchange website and using tools in excel sheet and putting macros, formulas, etc. try to sort out the things that you need. But the effort will be huge and most importantly, you will not be able to get all the required data.
At this point, the Google Finance Stock Screener comes to your rescue. It provides an excellent user friendly interface which allows you to specify the values for range in which you wish to get the stock list. There is an option to specify the values in the text boxes, as well as you have the option to drag the sliders to set the range.
The resulting stock list which meets the set criteria is then displayed instantaneously in the lower part of the webpage.
Then, there are numerous other options available for setting the criteria. Also, you can then select the sector in which you wish to invest, and only the companies belonging to that sector will be displayed. Then, next to it, you can select the exchange as well, and only the companies trading on that particular exchange will be listed.
A neat tool, for anyone who wishes to look for data and conduct research on stocks. Presently supports on US stock exchanges, AMEX, NADSAQ and NYSE only. Hope to see more global exchanges being added very soon. | Table of Contents |
