Continental Layoffs Job Cut: fires 1900 employees, closes plants in Europe

The news is not good for the employees of Continental AG, which is a major global company for Tires (Tyres) & other auto materials. Now the situation is getting worse for the employees as the recession is taking a toll on all sectors and all of the sectors are feeling the heat. The latest additon to the list of organization which may go for layoffs is the Continental AG Tires. It has declared that it will layoff some 1900 workers and close two tire manufacturing plants - one in France and other in Germany. Continental Logo

The news is that around 1900 employees may be fired from their jobs at Continental.

Total No. of employees of Continental is around 146000 as of now. The cuts would constiitute around 1.3% of the total employee force.

Yes. The truck and bus tire plant at Hanover, Germany and a car tire plant in Clairoix, France will be closed. That is what is causing a job cut of 1900 employees. Also there will be a production cut at Puchov, Slovakia plant.

The Hanover truck- tire plant’s shutdown will be completed by the end of this year and the French factory will stop work by March 2010.
