THe latest one to add to the list is from the biggest steel company of the world called ArcelorMittal which is reported that there is a big possibility that it may have to cut the workforce by around 2500 employees. The company has reported that around 2,444 employees at its Burns Harbor plant in the U.S. could be laid off indefinitely in January.

As per the news, The release said the company had notified the United Steelworkers and other stakeholders "about the potential for an indefinite layoff" of employees at the facility beginning in the second half of January.

"Potential work force reductions are a direct result of the extraordinary economic environment we are facing, and the company hopes to return workers to their jobs as market conditions warrant," the release said, the Web site reported.
Jim Robinson, director of United Steelworkers District 7, said the union is negotiating with ArcelorMittal to minimize the number of layoffs, the Web site reported.
