Agilent Technologies Layoffs Job Cut: fires 800 employees

The situation is worsening further for the technology sector and the new year is proving to be no good for any employees or any company. The latest one to add to that list is Agilent Technologies, which is going for the layoffs in this year i.e. 2009. It is learnt that these layoffs may be done to save costs. Around 800 employees will be fired by the Agilent Technologies.

What is the primary reason for Agilent Technologies layoffs?
The reason quoted by the company is restructuring. However, it is understood that mainly it is being done to save costs.

How are the Agilent Technologies layoffs structured?
As per the details and news, there will be a reduction in 300 temporary positions and 500 "regular" positions as well as a pay reduction of 5 percent to 10 percent for its workforce worldwide.

Which segments will be affected in the Agilent Technologies layoffs?
Majority of the layoffs will be primarily in the electronic measurements group. Also those affected will be the ones whose businesses are heavily impacted.

Any specific locations where Agilent Technologies layoffs will happen?
Loveland and Colorado, however, in Colorado there will be less layoofs compared to Loveland. Agilent also operates facilities in Boulder and Englewood. In all, the company employs 19,600 worldwide, about 1,500 in the state and about 500 in Northern Colorado.
