GE Aviation Layoffs Job Cut: fires 1000 employees

Very recently, we had published the news about the GE Security Layoffs. Things are getting worse for the other division of the GE or General Electric Company employees. The GE Aviation company has decided to layoff some 1000 employees. All the sectors are now melting under the pressures of falling market demand and financial problems. There will be around 1000 job cuts by the company.

What are the primary reasons for GE aviation layoffs?
Consolidation. GE is now working on plans which integrates the acquisition of Smiths Group Plc’s aerospace unit into GE avaiation. Falling sales and reduction in demand is another reason for this layoffs.

Which class or segment of employees will be affected by the GE Aviation layoffs?
Primarily, it will be the managers and salaried agency staff. To talk about the numbers, 300 managers will be made redundant while 150 salaried agency staff will also lose their jobs.

Evendale, Ohio based employees will be affected.

GE Aviation produced a record 2,150 commercial engines in 2008 and has yet to receive a cancellation even with the two-year delay of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner. Order and production figures include engines made by CFM International, the company’s joint venture with Safran SA of France.
