Amid mounting pressure, the heat is being felt by the non-permanent staff of the Los Angeles Unified School District or the LAUSD. The situation is worsening further for the all sectors and the new year is proving to be no good for any employees or any company. Recently there were reports about the CSU Colorado State University Layoffs and now its the time for Los Angeles Unified School District LAUSD.
How many employees may be fired in the LAUSD layoffs?
The estimated no. of layoffs at Los Angeles Unified School District stands at 3000 as of now, but it is only estimated.
Which segment of employees will be affected in the LAUSD layoffs ?
Primarily, they will be the non-permanent teaching staff who will be affected by the layoffs. Also, there will be other criteria in determining the layoffs - like The district will first look at 2,290 nonpermanent teachers who have the least seniority and who teach elementary school and secondary school English and math, according to a report prepared for the board. Layoffs may also happen for interns and provisional teachers, who have not passed their final exams in the subjects they teach.
When will the LAUSD layoffs happen?
The board will be having a first consideration on this on January 13, 2009.
How much savings are expected in the LAUSD layoffs happen?
It depends upon the time of layoffs. If we calculate savings for a year, it comes to around 138 million USD, based upon the average pay of a teacher.
Let's hope that alternative jobs are available to the affected employees of LAUSD Layoffs Job Cut, if layoffs do happen.
